DAY 3  7/31/2010
When Mama's Happy, Everyone's Happy!

  1. Let Mom sleep in, while you get fresh ice for the cooler and refill all the water bottles!
  2. Put venison tenderloin and bacon on the grill as Mom emerges from her beauty sleep!
  3. Surprise her by pulling the blender out of the box you sneaked under the stuff she packed!
  4. As she eats the most tender of tenderloins hot off the grill, present her with a fresh smoothie:  pineapple, banana, nectarine, and North Idaho huckleberries!
  5. While she’s gone to change clothes for the day, have the graduated driver ed students clean and pack the van!
  6. Let her know how beautiful she is; and tell her you love her!
  7. You will notice that your entire road trippin’ crew is smilin by now!

Honesty Pays!

  • Last night, we pulled into the Oasis Campground just before midnight with the office closed, set up the tent, and took deliciously long hot showers!
  • The next morning, at the camp office, I was surprised to receive a discount!
  • The manager said, “I always give a 10% discount as a way of saying thanks when people are honest to pay for their late night arrival.”
  • On the way out, I picked up a bag of ice for $1--best price I’ve seen in a long time!--to surprise the family with fresh smoothies, since I hid the blender under the other packed items!
  • See the post, When Mama’s Happy; Everyone’s Happy, to see how well the surprise turns out!
